i hope the cinema never dies

i went to the cinema today and watched the new spider man movie. i know a lot of people worship marvel but i’ve never been fully invested in their movies. i have seen a few of the newer ones and i can honestly say there was only one character that i didn’t enjoy.

i forgot how magical the cinema can be. i love the escapism of sitting in a dark room, watching a movie, phone off, no distractions and leaving the world exactly where it is. i think we as humans need that every now and then.

i really enjoyed the movie and felt i could really relate to the main character. he spends a lot of time alone and i do too (by choice - a lot of my hobbies are activities i do on my own and not being in a relationship or having any kids). in a weird way i felt seen, even though that was clearly unintentional.

i started to look how far back the marvel cinematic universe goes and i discovered it went back to 2008. i thought about perhaps starting from the beginning to see what all of the fuss is about. i’ll see how affordable it is to get physical copies of the films. i’d like to do one by one, once a week until i lose interest.

i feel like i’ll always have cinema in my life and i want it to stay that way.
